Colorado Springs Fire Department invited the public, January 16 at 3PM, to attend the presentation ceremony of the new CSFD Heavy Rescue 17. The Colorado Springs Fire Department’s Honor Guard opened up the ceremony by presenting the flags. Attendees were asked to join in the Pledge of Allegiance. Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach and CSFD Fire Chief Christopher Riley spoke at the ceremony. During the ceremony, Mayor Bach provided the Oath to Honorary Firefighter to 4-year-old Caden Rose. Caden is the first person to receive this honor in the history of the department. According to Colorado Springs Fire Department, " This Pierce Mfg. truck is much improved over the 20 year old apparatus it is replacing. It will be able to carry all of the tools and equipment needed to handle any All-Risk incident our firefighters would respond to. The truck took over a year to design and build and is expected to operate as a front line apparatus for 20+ years."
