A traffic accident occurred approximately 9:50PM on August 6, 2012 at the intersection of South Academy Boulevard and Airport Road in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Three vehicles were involved in the accident and Northbound Academy was closed for over an hour. Some of the Colorado Springs Fire Department emergency vehicles on scene were Ladder Truck 8, Fire Engine 8, Squad 108, D-2 Battalion Chief, and 3 American Medical Response Ambulances. There were multiple patients in this traffic accident that were taken to the hospital. Many Colorado Springs Police Officers were on scene for traffic control and accident investigation. A small crowd started to form at the Burger King Restaurant, to watch firefighters and paramedics prepare patients for transport to the hospital.
