Wildland Fire CHFD

On June 2nd, 2012, Cimarron Hills Fire Department responded to a report of an outside fire in a field near homes. The fire was quickly contained to an area around 25 foot X 15 foot. This wildland fire was driven by intense wind gusts due to fast moving thunderstorm in the area. The first due-in brush truck, 1340, did a quick attack on this fast moving fire which involved some heavy brush. The fire was brought under control in five minutes. Extra resources were dispatched from neighboring Falcon Fire District as a precaution to get rapid control of the fire. This storm that moved over the area during this fire attack moved east to produce golf-ball size hail and a tornado in Eads, Colorado which is 27 miles north of Lamar, Colorado.
