Simla, Colorado-Big Sandy Fire Protection District-Elbert County Barn Fire Incident at 15660 Simla Highway
Date of Incident-May 16, 2014
Around 11:30 A.M. Simla Fire Department, along with mutual aid units from Calhan FD, were dispatched to a report of a barn fire, at 15660 Simla Highway. First arriving, Simla Pumper 210, found heavy fire coming from a barn. Pumper 210 initiated a fast attack with its bumper mounted deluge gun, while crews got attack lines in place. Two porta-tanks were deployed and tender water was replenished from a fire hydrant in the Town of Simla. Fire fighters brought the structure fire under control and contained it, with no extension to nearby structures or vegetation. No injuries were reported during this incident. A fire investigator was requested to the scene.
