Four Alarm Commercial Building Fire-Valken Sports
6160 Lake Shore Court
Date of Incident: August 7, 2014
Around 2:30 PM, Cimarron Hills Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at a business with explosions, with one party still inside. Squad 1371 was nearing the scene and reported a large amount of smoke, and called for a working structure fire response. CHFD Squad 1371 was first on scene and reported fire coming from the B side of a commercial structure. 1371 advised the incoming Ladder Truck 1331 to take the fire hydrant in front of the building. A 2nd alarm was struck as first fire attack crews were getting in place. Fire crews remained in a defensive fire attack mode most of the time due to the frequent explosions going on from the inventory inside the structure. Three fire hydrants were utilized on scene to supply multiple large diameter hoses for fire attack around the perimeter of the structure. Lake Shore Court was closed for some time because of supply lines going down the roadway. Crews removed both roll-up doors in the back of the structure and firefighters used saws to cut openings in the rear wall so more water could get to pockets of fire inside the building. The incident went to four alarms. Some firefighters became overheated during the incident, but no injuries were reported. The blaze caused heavy fire damage to the warehouse portion of the building and its contents. Three fire investigators were working on the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
