Ellicott Fire Department-Wildland Fire-Coal Mine Road
El Paso County, Colorado, USA. On April 9th, 2016, at 16:42, Ellicott Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a wildland fire near S. Franceville Coal Mine Road and Colorado Highway 94. Mutual aid was requested from Hanover, Falcon, Schriever AFB, and Stratmoor Hills Fire Departments, as well as E.P.S.O. Wildland Team . Firefighters were able to protect outbuildings, a home, and contain the fire to around 50-60 acres. Multiple brush trucks and water tenders worked the fire incident. Mop-up operations extended for hours due to the large amount of smoldering Yucca bushes. Shuttle operations brought continuous loads of water to the brush trucks. No injuries or structure damage was reported during this incident. The cause is under investigation, but lightning was reported to be in the area.
