Security Fire Department responded on the evening of 3/30/2013, to a report of house fire on Chimayo Drive.
03/30 ~ Around 19:30 an El Paso County Sheriff Deputy traveling on Highway 85 near South Academy Blvd reported a house fire across the railroad tracks to dispatch. At the same time multiple 911 callers reported the same situation with no address available. Deputies arrived at 2558 Chimayo Drive and reported the charlie side of the home fully involved. The flames had also burned through the electrical lines in the rear. Security Firefighters responded and were able to knock the fire within 10 minutes. All searches proved negative, no injuries were reported and the occupants self evacuated.

According to the Security Fire Department Website: The Security Fire Department has an average call volume of 3300 calls a year for service. The Department employs 12 full-time personnel, one paid fire chief, and 25 volunteers. The Fire Department also operates out of three fire stations.
