Date of Incident: December 16, 2013 Residential Structure Fire in Security, Colorado
Around 10:50 AM on Monday morning, Colorado Springs Fire Department dispatched a call for CSFD Fire Engine 11, to a smoke investigation, with heavy smoke, in the area of Milton E. Proby Parkway and Hancock Expressway, which is west of Powers Boulevard. As CSFD Engine 11 investigated the source of this smoke, they arrived in the 4800 block of Daredevil Drive, near Barnstormers Avenue. This was discovered to be a working fire in a single-family home. A full structure fire response was initiated from Colorado Springs Fire Department. Security Fire Department also responded to this incident, as this fire was in the jurisdiction of Security Fire District. Security Fire Department set up a unified command structure with Colorado Springs Fire Department, and together, worked with their crews and resources to successfully bring this structure fire under control. Firefighters were able to get a quick knockdown on fire. The main seat of the fire in home, was reported to be in the basement. No people were in the home at the time of the fire, and both pets made it out. Sheriff deputies were on scene to help control vehicle traffic near the scene. Fire investigators from El Paso County Sheriff's Office were on scene to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported during the fire incident. The fire was contained to the home, with no exposures threatened or damaged.
